Experience the Real Algarve with an Authentic Quad Biking Adventure

Make Your Vacation Count

There are few feelings in life more exciting than jetting off for a long-awaited holiday. The promise of delicious food, better weather, and a week or two without work is often the highlight of your year. However, you spend so much of your precious time grafting and working hard that by the time you finally arrive, you rarely have the energy to do much else besides laze by the swimming pool and sunbathe.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that picture, but if you are hungry for a little more excitement this holiday, then we have the perfect solution for you!

Save Your Feet and Feast Your Eyes

One issue that often pops up when on vacation with your friends and family, is that it can be difficult to agree on an excursion that suits everyone. Whilst hiking, exploring, and seeing the sights might appeal to you, to others it can sound like an exhausting nightmare.

Quad biking is the perfect compromise!

Experience the raw charm and enchanting beauty of the Algarve’s natural landscape with a group quad biking tour.

No sweaty hikes or tiring climbing—only an effortless ride through the countryside with a cool breeze and a friendly face to guide you.

Our Quad Biking Tours are Suitable for Everyone!

A common concern that puts some people off getting on a quad bike is whether or not they are going to be able to control it. Fortunately, all of our quad bikes are automatic, which means that anyone can ride them!

You don’t have to spend the duration of your journey anxious and struggling to learn the gears. With a simple flick of the wrist, you are in complete control!

Of course, if that doesn’t fill you with confidence, you don’t have to drive. Our quad bikes are big enough to accommodate two people, which means that you can simply buddy up with one of your travel companions or ride up front with your guide and take in the view.

Fun in Safety is Our Mantra

For us there is only one thing more important than showing you an amazing time: keeping you safe.

We take special care and allow people to ride within their limits and will adjust the pace of your tour depending on your experience, and the weather conditions.

In addition to that, all our quads are thoroughly and meticulously maintained by our experienced local mechanic, for your safety and convenience.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Why Choose QuadVentura?

There is certainly no shortage of quad biking tours in the Algarve, so how do you find the right company for you? We would like to invite you to give us a try but first, here’s what we have to offer:

    • 2022/2023 model automatic bikes for your convenience (they’re accessible and easy to ride)
    • Competitive prices include fuel, safety helmet & googles (no hidden charges)
    • Fresh and authentic quad biking routes
    • Exclusive access to some of the finest views the Algarve has to offer
    • A friendly and flexible service (we will gladly tailor our quad biking tours to suit your needs and/or special requirements)
    • Personal accident & liability insurance
    • FREE for children under 10 years
    • We keep you hydrated (we bring plenty of water on tour) and our longer tours include lunch at a local restaurant!

Do I need a licence to ride a quad bike?

    • Full valid driving car licence is required (drivers only). You must have this with you on tour and please note we do not accept provisional licences.
    • If you are a couple you can either drive your own quad or share, both are equally fun and exciting! If you share a quad, providing you both have a full driving licence, you can swap drivers as many times as you wish throughout the tour.
    • For people without a licence or if your family / group doesn’t have enough licenced drivers for all accompanying children, our guides can take pillions.

Do I need experience in riding a quad?

    • Our quad tours are suitable for everyone!
No previous experience is required so don’t worry if you have not driven one before as all our quads are easy to handle and are fully automatic. We provide a full safety briefing before you head out (not included in our tour time) and ensures you are comfortable and relaxed. We try our best to ensure you have a great time and one which you will always remember.
    • Nearly all of our guests are beginners, so we know how to provide an experience that is as safe as it is fun. Our quads are fully automatic and remarkably simple to drive; you simply squeeze the handle and off you go!

How old do I need to be to be able to drive or participate in the tour?

    • Drivers must be 18 yrs+ | passengers 7 yrs+.
    • As long as you have a full valid driving licence and are over the age of 18, you can drive one of our quads. Passengers don’t need to have a licence but must be at least 7 years old to join us on tour.
    • Children under 10 years are free of charge on all our tours!

Do I need to book in advance?

    • All of our bike tours require that you book in advance. We recommend that you book well in advance to avoid disappointment, since we only go out in small groups and are booked out often.

Is it safe to take my camera?

    • Absolutely, there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take some amazing photos! Of course, you must do so at your own risk as we do not take any responsibility for your belongings. We also ask that the person driving does not operate the camera in transit. This is reserved for the passenger. If you are riding alone and wish to take photographs, you must stop and secure your bike before doing so. Don’t worry, we will stop regularly for the very best photo opportunities!

I am under 18 years of age; can I ride by myself?

    • The short answer to this is no. The legal riding age in Portugal is 18 years of age. Your insurance policy will not cover you in the event of an accident. Persons under 18 years must ride as pillion. We apologise for any inconvenience, but we make no exceptions when it comes to the law.

    How old is too old?

    • This all comes down to the individual. Firstly, you are never too old to be a passenger. We take every step to ensure that our tours are safe and accessible to everyone.
    • Drivers who are seniors must be aware of diminishing abilities that might make it more challenging to control a quadbike. For example, eyesight and upper arm strength. We will do everything that we can to ensure that all of our guests are entirely safe and comfortable.

    How fast can we go?

    • This is a common question. Our tours are not about speed and we do not tolerate reckless driving. We will set a suitable pace that is safe for both the terrain, and the collective ability of the group. There will be opportunity to open up and pick up some speed, but this will be controlled by us and at our discretion. We kindly ask that you respect our rules.
    • The legal allowed speed for quads is 40Km/h inside the cities and 45Km/h in main roads.

What should we bring on tour?

    • We provide helmets, plenty of water (bring your own refillable bottle), and always have a first-aid kit on hand. This means you don’t need to bring much!
    • We do recommend that you wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and suitable footwear.
    • Personal belongings can be taken on tour as we do have a safety box on one of the quads, but we ask you only take the bare essentials (wallet/purse & sun cream). Space is limited inside the box so if possible, please just bring a small bag and keep things to a minimum.
    • We do not take responsibility for any lost belongings, so we strongly advise that any valuables are left at home or in your hotel to be on the safe side.

What should we wear / are not allowed to wear?

    • We recommend closed-in / covered toes shoes or sneakers. Flip flops or sandals are OK to wear provided you are careful – please leave the high heels at home on this occasion!
    • We recommend that you wear sunglasses.
    • It can also get incredibly dusty at times, so don’t wear your best clothes.
    • We advise that you apply your sun cream before you arrive to give it a chance to absorb.
    • We don’t recommend wearing dresses or skirts as it can be uncomfortable while riding on the quad and remember you can burn easily from the sun & wind if you were a bikini / short top.

The weather forecast is showing rain on the day we’re due to ride, will the tour still go ahead?

    • Our tours operate rain or shine! In fact, riding in the rain can be an awful lot of fun and offer and entirely unique experience. If we deem the weather to be too extreme or unsafe, then we will notify you to cancel or reschedule the tour at your convenience.

How often do your single day tours take place? What time do they start?

    • Our tours run on a daily basis from Monday to Saturday, rain, or shine. Our tours kick-off in the morning, afternoon, or evening depending on which experience you’d like to join. You can find our Tour schedule below. If you don’t see a starting time that fits your travel itinerary, contact us and we can organize a private tour (may include a 50% surcharge).

    • Tour Times – Winter (October – March)

During the winter it gets dark relatively early, so we no longer run tours which finish at 6pm. At this time or year, we start tours at 10am. If you would like to book during these months, please let us know a few possible dates suit you and we will provide you with our schedule.

As the weather can be a little unpredictable, we recommend you book your tour at the beginning of your holiday just in case the weather conditions get too rough and we need to reschedule.

I’m travelling alone, is it possible to join an existing group?

    • Of course, it is! You are more than welcome. One of the great things about any tour of this kind are the friendships you will form with not only the tour leader, but also the other adventurous souls out there with you. When possible, we try to link individuals together. The more advance warning, the better.

Is there a minimum/maximum number of people we need to book a tour?

    • All our tours are open for others to join in unless you have booked a private tour.
    • We only travel in very small groups with a maximum of 5-6 quads (10-12 people) on each tour to ensure we don’t disturb the environment and to provide you with a unique and a very personal service so we do advise you book in advance.
    • If you’re travelling alone, don’t be shy to book a tour. We run our daily tours as long as a minimum of 1 person has signed up, so this is a great way to either meet people or get a one-on-one tour depending on your booking. If you’d like to make sure your tour group is intimate, you can book a private tour at a 50% surcharge.
    • Don’t hesitate to contact us for more info!

    Do you offer private tours?

    • We do indeed offer private tours at a 50% surcharge (depending on availably and might not be available in peak season).

    Is Quad biking safe?

    • The tours we operate are not about speed, it’s about allowing you to take in the rural terrain, rolling hills and magnificent panoramic views. Your tour guide will set the pace and ensure that you are comfortable at all times—no one will be left behind or forced to ride a speed that makes them feel uncomfortable.
    • The legal allowed speed for quads is 40Km/h inside the cities and 45Km/h in main roads.
    • We provide all necessary safety equipment (helmet included within the price).
    • In addition to that, all of our quad bikes are automatic making them exceptionally easy to pick up.
    • Our quad bikes are thoroughly and regularly maintained by a local mechanic.
    • We will never take you out on a tour if we believe that it is unsafe to do so (extreme weather conditions, etc).

    Are the tours guided?

    • You will be under the care of a friendly and experienced tour guide. You’ll be in the safest hands at all times.

Do you offer insurance? Is there a security deposit required?

    • We provide liability and personal accident insurance as well as personal safety equipment required for quad driving.
    • We take great care of our quads. If you damage them on tour, we need to fix them.
    • Accidents and incidents on our tour are rare, though when they occur you are responsible for covering the cost to fix the bikes, up to and including full replacement value in the rare (really, rare) event of a write-off. You can choose to opt for our optional quad bike damage insurance or leave a security deposit with us.
    • We offer comprehensive quad bike damage insurance for 10 USD per driver, per tour. If you do not take out the insurance, you are fully responsible for any damages to the quad bike you ride while on tour.
    • If you don’t take out our optional insurance we are required to take a security deposit of 200 Euro per quad, to cover any damages to the quad while it is in your possession on the tour. If the damage exceeds this amount you are responsible for it. We are in the business of ensuring your adventure is exciting and memorable. We are not in the business of overcharging or trying to take your money for damage. We are honest and fair and simply want to keep our bikes in the condition in which you received them.

How many quads do you have and what are their specifications?

    • We have a fleet of 8 fully automatic 300cc quads – all bought brand-new in 2022/2023. Our quads are maintained on a regular basis by our professional mechanic.

What does the tour price include?

    • It’s our aim to provide great value for money, thus our day tours include plenty of cold water, local food (our longer tours only), safety helmet & goggles, fuel, an English speaking local experienced guide, and of course, the ride of your life!
    • We also provide personal accident & liability insurance. For a small surcharge we offer a comprehensive quad bike damage insurance.
    • All taxes are included.

What’s so special about your tours? Aren’t there lots of quad tours in the Algarve?

    • We pride ourselves in providing the most authentic and local experiences available in the Algarve. No matter how many times you do a QuadVentura tour you’ll always have a unique experience. We always strive to provide the best service and best itineraries possible.

Where do the tours start from?

    • We are located about 20min – 25min from Albufeira.
    • All our tours start from our base in Paderne, right next to Moinho do Leitão, a nice restored traditional windmill.
    • We are easy to get to by taxi or if you are located further away we can recommend a private private transportation service for you. Contact us if you are unsure about anything.
    • If you’re arriving by plane, here you can book your airport transfer from Faro airport.

What time should we arrive before starting our tour?

    • We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour starts at our base to fill out some paperwork, pay for your tour, and receive a short safety briefing. If you arrive late, you might miss part of the tour or won’t be able to participate at all, as we cannot let the rest of the group wait for you, as well as we have to be back in time so we can start our tours that follow on time, too.

We are making our own way to you, is there free/secure parking available?

    • There is roadside parking available (it’s safe).

What if I want to cancel or reschedule my tour?

    • If you’d like to cancel your tour, please contact us via phone or email more than 24 hours in advance.
    • If you’d like to reschedule your tour, please let us know more than 24 hours in advance. We don’t charge extra for rescheduling but letting us know in advance is best so that we can arrange our team appropriately for you.
    • We understand that some circumstances make it difficult to give advance cancellation notice. If you must cancel last minute, please contact us via phone and we will discuss refunds depending on the situation.
    • For more info about our cancellation and refund policy, please click here.

What is the maximum number of people who can sit on a quad bike?

    • 2 people is the maximum, though the weight limit of 150kg still applies.

We would love to take part in one of your tours but have someone with a disability with us? What accessibility options are there?

    • We do our utmost to ensure that our quad bike tours are available to everyone and invite you to give us a call or contact us via email so that we can discuss your personal situation. We will do all we can to accommodate your needs within the limits of our facilities. Most likely, we will arrange a personalised tour that takes your circumstances into consideration.
    • When it comes to riding our Quad Bikes, an individual who has trouble walking, though has sufficient strength and motor-function in their wrist, arms, shoulders, and chest will be able to ride safely and comfortably.
    • Providing an individual is able to get on and off a quad bike with some assistance from the driver, they should be comfortable as a passenger on our tours.
    • For people with disabilities, we would advise considering a shorter quad biking tour so as not to put any unnecessary strain on them.
    • Regarding our free pick-up service, getting in and out of the Jeep might prove difficult as we do not have wheelchair access. We will, however, offer any additional assistance where possible.
    • As for individuals with disabilities that impair their eyesight, or cognitive functions, they will be unable to operate a Quad Bike by themselves. If, however, their caregiver is 100% that they will be safe to ride as a passenger, then that will be acceptable.
    • We want all of our guests to feel welcome, but above all we need to ensure that everyone is entirely safe and comfortable on tour. Thus, we ask that you use your best judgment when it comes to taking part in a Quad Biking tour, if an individual’s disability might put them as risk of injury throughout the trip. We trust an individual or their caregiver to understand the boundaries of their physical or mental limitations.
